We are currently seeking a highly skilled and organized Legal Assistant to join our team and support our growing practice.
Role & Responsibilities
As a Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our lawyers by managing files, communicating with clients, and handling administrative tasks. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing, reviewing, and managing legal documents and correspondence for family law and civil litigation cases.
- Drafting pleadings, affidavits, financial statements, and court forms for the responsible lawyer's review.
- Filing documents with the courts and coordinating service.
- Managing lawyers’ calendars, and scheduling client meetings.
- Handling client communications with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Organizing and maintaining case files, both electronic and physical.
- Providing administrative support, including office administration, billing, time entry, and file management.
Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate will have:
- Legal Assistant diploma/certificate or equivalent education/experience.
- Experience in a law firm, with a focus on family law and civil litigation, is an asset.
- Strong understanding of Alberta court procedures and filing processes.
- Proficiency in legal software: Cosmolex, ChildView, Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
